Château Baysselance was born in 2024 from a simple dream: to grow vines differently, in harmony with living things. Frédéric Baysselance acquired four plots in the commune of Landiras, at the western edge of the Graves appellation, where the last vineyard rows give way to the Landes pine forest.
Captivated by the diversity of terroirs and convinced that vines must be tended with patience and humility, Frédéric chose from the outset to work with horses — a counter-intuitive decision, but one that reflects a deep philosophy: adapting to nature's pace rather than imposing his own.
"Vines need to be listened to. Once you learn to observe them, they tell you everything they need."
The old vines he took on are a precious inheritance. Their gnarled trunks carry the memory of the Bordeaux vineyard — a genetic diversity that modern clonal selection has often sacrificed in the pursuit of yield. Here, it is the plant that decides.
Since 2026, the estate has been pursuing organic certification — a natural step for someone who never sought to farm any other way.
